Conor McGregor, the UFC Lightweight champion, is preparing to meet Dustin Poirier, the guy who gave him his first professional KO defeat. This is the last installment of the trilogy saga between the two lightweight behemoths. Furthermore, who gets to hold bragging rights about this long-running rivalry would be determined by this battle.
Apart from training for the war, the 'Notorious' one has been on a social media rant. He recently took to Twitter to post a screenshot of one of his earlier battles with the caption, "Watch me open up the arts and puck these peasants around." Beginning July 10th.” McGregor is passionate about regaining the shape that saw him destroy the lightweight. However, he has become a long cry from the McGregor of old, fluctuating in his fights and recording an equal win-loss ratio in his last six games. Prior to his most recent octagon appearance against Poirier, he had scored an impressive TKO victory over Donald Cerrone in the first round in what was his first headliner since spending an entire year on the sidelines after his defeat to Lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov. Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 3: The Way to The UFC 264 Live McGregor-Poirier trilogy battle will be one of the year's most critical battles. Both fighters join this battle with a lot riding on the outcome. In reality, Poirier turned down a chance to compete for lightweight gold in order to resolve the 1-1 tie once and for all. Conor dominated their first encounter back in 2014 at UFC 178, securing a TKO victory in the first round. Poirier went on to strengthen his game so much after that contest that he had just two defeats in 13 fights prior to UFC 257. Poirier, on the other hand, was relentless with his leg kicks and punches this period. The Irishman, on the other side, struggled to adapt to the onslaught and charged the price with a TKO defeat in the second round. The trilogy, though, is now coming to an end when both warriors plan to go all in one more time against each other. Furthermore, with divisional gold on the table, the stakes could not be bigger. Who is taking it all this time?
